What does a design cost?

You're billed per design by how much work the AI actually does — a single prompt covers the model plus the agent's own self-inspection and revisions.

~8 credits
about $0.08

A basic part — e.g. a 60×40×4 mm mounting plate with counterbored M3 holes and filleted corners.

~40 credits
about $0.40

A detailed functional part — e.g. a parametric spur gear with a shaft bore and bolt circle.

40–80 credits
about $0.40–$0.80

A complex design — e.g. an intricate assembly or a part recreated from a reference image.

At those rates the $20 membership covers roughly 62 detailed parts — or 312+ simpler ones — every month. Costs are metered by real usage, so they scale with each design's complexity.

Frequently asked questions

How are credits used?

Only AI generations consume credits — they're metered by the actual work each request does. Editing your model, rendering the 3D preview, and exporting (STL, 3MF, STEP, SCAD) all run in your browser and are completely free.

How far do the monthly credits go?

The $20 membership includes 2,500 credits — enough to design roughly 62 detailed parts (think a parametric gear) or 312+ simpler ones each month. Costs are metered per design, so simpler parts stretch your allotment further, and you'll always see your balance before and after each one.

What's the difference between monthly and purchased credits?

Membership credits are granted each billing period and reset at period end (use-it-or-lose-it). Credits you buy à la carte never expire. When you spend, monthly credits are used first so your purchased balance lasts longer.

Can I use the agent without subscribing?

Yes. Pay-as-you-go is the default — buy a credit pack whenever you need one, or turn on auto top-up so credits are added automatically when your balance runs low.

Can I cancel the membership?

Anytime, from your billing page. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current period, and you keep any remaining monthly credits until then.

How does annual billing work?

Pay once a year and save 20% — $192/year, the equivalent of $16/month. You still receive the same 2,500 credits refreshed every month (they don't all arrive at once), so it's the monthly plan at a lower rate.

Does the membership stack with Pro or Studio?

Yes. The CAD Agent membership is separate from the Pro/Studio generation plans — you can hold both, and the agent draws from your combined credit balance.
