How to Calibrate Flow Rate

Flow rate (or extrusion multiplier) fine-tunes how much plastic your printer extrudes. E-Steps calibrates the motor; flow rate calibrates the actual output for each filament.

Step 1: Calibrate E-Steps First

Always calibrate your E-Steps before flow rate. Use our free E-Steps Calculator.

Step 2: Print a Single-Wall Cube

In your slicer, create a cube (e.g. 20×20×20mm) with these settings:

Step 3: Measure the Wall

Using digital calipers, measure the wall thickness at several points around the cube and average them. This is your "Measured Wall Width."

Step 4: Calculate

Enter the values above. Formula: New Flow = Current Flow × (Expected Width ÷ Measured Width)
