Description
Appliance Cable Organizer | Cord Wrap & Plug Holder
A compact, minimalist solution for keeping appliance cords neatly wrapped, secured, and out of the way.
The Appliance Cable Organizer is a compact, 3D-printable cord management accessory designed to keep excess power cables neatly organized behind or alongside appliances.
Instead of leaving loose cables dangling behind appliances or cluttering kitchen countertops, this organizer attaches directly to the appliance using double-sided adhesive tape or magnets, providing a dedicated space to wind excess cable and secure the plug when not in use.
Designed in Autodesk Fusion 360, the organizer features a rounded, low-profile body with a central cable-wrapping section and an integrated plug holder.
The model includes four ready-to-print mounting variants, allowing you to choose the installation method that works best for your appliance and mounting surface.
Key Features
- Space-saving design: Keeps appliance power cords neatly organized without occupying additional countertop or cabinet space.
- Integrated cable wrap: The curved side openings provide space to wind excess cable around the organizer.
- Built-in plug holder: A 10 mm center opening allows the cable near the plug to be secured after wrapping.
- Two mounting options: Choose between recessed adhesive mounting, flat-back adhesive mounting, or magnetic mounting with one or two magnets.
- Compact construction: Measures just 60 × 25 mm across its maximum length and width, making it suitable for small kitchen appliances.
- Support-free printing: Designed to print without additional support structures in the provided orientation.
Included Files
Four ready-to-print versions are provided, each featuring the same cable-wrapping geometry with different mounting configurations.
1. Recessed Adhesive Version
Designed for thicker double-sided mounting tape.
- Features a 1 mm deep adhesive recess on the back.
- Intended for double-sided tape approximately 1.5 mm thick.
- The tape protrudes approximately 0.5 mm beyond the recess before compression, allowing contact with the mounting surface.
2. Flat-Back Adhesive Version
Designed for thin double-sided tape.
- Features a flat rear mounting surface without an adhesive recess.
- Suitable for thin mounting tapes where a recessed installation is unnecessary.
3. Single-Magnet Version
Designed for magnetic attachment using one rectangular magnet.
- Features a dedicated space for one 30 × 10 × 3 mm magnet.
- Suitable for compatible magnetic appliance surfaces.
- Allows removal and repositioning without adhesive.
4. Dual-Magnet Version
Designed for magnetic attachment using two rectangular magnets.
- Features dedicated spaces for two 30 × 10 × 3 mm magnets.
- Provides an additional magnetic attachment point compared with the single-magnet version.
- Suitable for compatible ferromagnetic appliance surfaces.
Note: Magnetic attachment requires a surface that attracts magnets, test first if the appliance is compatible with magnets. Holding strength depends on the mounting surface, magnet grade, and installation. Magnet insert was modelled after Bambu Lab's 30 × 10 × 3 mm magnets with .40mm clearance.
Model Dimensions
All four versions share the same overall cable organizer geometry.
Dimensions (mm)
- Overall Top Length: 60 mm
- Base Length: 40 mm
- Overall Width: 25 mm
- Central Cable-Wrapping Section: 20 mm
- Center Cable/Plug Retention Opening: 10 mm
- Adhesive Recess Depth: 1 mm (recessed version only)
- Recommended Recessed Adhesive Thickness: 1.5 mm
- Magnet Dimensions: 30 × 10 × 3 mm per magnet (magnetic versions only)
The organizer is intended for common small kitchen appliances, including coffee machines, blenders, rice cookers, electric kettles, and similar countertop appliances.
Cable thickness, stiffness, length, and plug geometry vary between appliances. Check the cable and available mounting space before printing.
Installation Options
The organizer can be installed on the back or side of a compatible appliance, depending on the available space and your preferred cable-routing direction.
Option 1: Double-Sided Adhesive Tape
- Select the recessed or flat-back adhesive version according to your tape thickness.
- Clean and thoroughly dry the intended mounting surface.
- Apply suitable double-sided mounting tape to the rear surface of the organizer.
- Remove the tape's protective liner.
- Position the organizer on a flat, cool area of the appliance, away from ventilation openings and heat-generating components.
- Press firmly and follow the adhesive manufacturer's recommended bonding and curing instructions before use.
Option 2: Magnetic Mounting
- Select the single-magnet or dual-magnet version.
- Pause the print and fit the appropriate 30 × 10 × 3 mm magnet/s into its designated slot.
- Resume print to completion once the magnet/s is/are in place.
- Position the organizer on the back or side of the magnetic appliance.
- Confirm that the magnetic attachment remains secure when the cable is wrapped.
Magnetic mounting offers a removable alternative to adhesive installation and is particularly useful when you want to reposition the organizer.
How to Use
- Install the organizer: Attach it to a suitable location on the back or side of your appliance.
- Unplug the appliance: Ensure the appliance is switched off, disconnected from power, and cool before organizing its cable.
- Wrap the cable: Wind the excess power cord around the central section using the curved side openings.
- Secure the end: Guide the cable near the plug into the 10 mm center opening to help prevent the wrapped cord from unwinding.
- Unwind when needed: Release the cable and unwind it before operating the appliance.
Avoid winding the cable too tightly or creating sharp bends near the plug and appliance cord entry.
Design Notes
- Recommended Filament: PLA+ / PLA Tough for cool, indoor mounting locations.
- Alternative Filaments: PETG or ABS for applications requiring improved heat resistance.
- Print Scale: 100%
- Print Orientation: As provided in the model files.
- Supports: Not Needed
- Intended Use: Indoor household appliance cable organization.
Material & Heat Considerations
PLA+ is recommended for general indoor use where the mounting surface remains relatively cool.
Kitchen appliances may generate considerable heat during operation. Avoid installing the organizer near heating elements, hot exterior panels, exhaust vents, or other high-temperature surfaces, as PLA+ may soften or deform when exposed to elevated temperatures.
For installations where greater temperature resistance is required, consider PETG or ABS, provided the expected operating temperature remains within the selected filament's and mounting material's safe limits.
PETG generally offers improved heat resistance over standard PLA formulations, while ABS may be more appropriate for warmer environments but typically requires more controlled printing conditions.
Changing filament does not automatically make the organizer safe for direct contact with hot appliance surfaces. Please verify your appliance's operating temperatures and the limitations of the adhesive or magnets before installation.
Cable Safety: This organizer is intended for storing cables when appliances are unplugged and not in operation. Always unwind the cable before use, avoid tight bends or excessive tension, and follow the appliance manufacturer's cord storage and safety instructions.
